MY SNAKE OILS.

don't you judge me. i am a hippie, i can't help it.

i really wanted to find out more because I'd been having a hard time with anxiety - couldn't breathe in a deep breath, lots of stress etc. and henry wasn't sleeping at night and having weird bloody noses.

i didn't want to go on any meds for anxiety and i needed to do something with henry and his sleeping, so that's basically why i started looking into my voodoo oils. there are a few people that i love that use them and aren't weirdos, so i didn't feel totally strange about the whole thing.

so i started researching. i "took" a facebook class and learned about the oils in the starter kit and what they can be used for. and then i researched more online about the different companies and whatnot. young living is the company that the ladies i love use, and has the best/most pure oils/reviews/etc.

i decided to do the kit, because it comes with 11 oils and a diffuser. so i did it and LOVE IT SO MUCH OH MY GOSH YES I DO. i love my snake oils.

on myself, i use daily:
joy (mood lifter/balancer, happy oil)
valor (anxiety, confidence builder, smells like freaking blueberries)
stress away (duh)
peace & calming
peppermint (energy in the afternoon, headaches)
citrus fresh (calming, mental clarity, smells incredible)
i have had a super annoying cough. RC broke up the nasty and I'm finally over it with no cough medicines.
i also sometimes have canker sores on my stupid tongue (too much sugar) and the tea tree oil helped immediately. gone. amazing.

on henry, daily:
cedarwood (focus, mood stabilizer)
stress away (around the 5pm hour)
valor (at night to help with sleep, chills him out)
lavender (helps him sleep better than anything else)
frankincense and lemon (on his spine to help him stop coughing)
RC (on his chest to break up the mucus - this stuff is incredible)

on hallie, daily:
cedarwood on her hair part (helps hair to grow!)
peace & calming (to help her chill/sleep)
valor and joy (in the morning before school)
panaway (on her wrist, to help with pain)
headache blend (to help with her headaches)
lavender (for eczema)

on dave, when he lets me:
anything - he's pretty good about letting me slather him with crap. i will use panaway on his sore spots, i used tea tree oil on a rash on his ankle (cleared it right up!), and whatever else i want. he is good to me.

i love that i can use oils on my kids without worrying about side effects from meds. i have no issues with medicine at ALL, and use it whenever needed, but if i can stop something or help with oils, I'm doing it. i love my oils.

they can help with so many things! cholesterol, kidney stones, eczema, ear infections, burns, scars, wrinkles, sore/strep throat, everything. I'm totally sold, because even if one doesn't work for something, it's not HURTING anything, ya know?  no side effects!

so if you smell something when i come near, it's just my oil :) i am a weirdo, yes.

okay, that's all.

FLORIDA: WHAT I ATE. WHO CARES?

i was a good girl in florida. a good girl with some splurges.

THURSDAY: i stocked up for the plane ride. i had a sliced apple with pb before going into the airport.

*funny story - i must have accidentally thrown my knife into my purse after cutting up the apple. and then went through security. and didn't get stopped. wow.

anyway, i had my apple and pb and then brought lunch to eat on my flight - turkey tenderloin, sweet potatoes, quinoa + mustard. the lady next to me was horrified, but it was delicious and worth it. i had a quinoa breakfast bar for my p.m. snack and then ate cold fish tacos with dave back at the tiki hut (gross).

FRIDAY: dave brought my blender and we went to walmart to get my stuff for my green monster smoothies. i love those things. so i had half for breakfast before i worked out and then the other half afterwards. i slept in, so i didn't have my a.m. snack and went straight on to lunch. which was a really good chef salad. p.m snack was more quinoa bars and then we had glorious pizza for supper. my stomach hated me, but it was so delicious.

SATURDAY: green monster + apple and pb + subway + quinoa bar + grilled chicken salad for supper. yum.

SUNDAY: green monster + apple and pb + subway + quinoa bar + naked drink + granola bar for supper. not very filling, so an apple and pb later.

MONDAY: half a naked drink mixed with almond milk for breakfast. my last quinoa bar was my a.m. snack on the plane. i was starving. and then urban taco + orange in the airport for lunch *so good * and then...i was done! i had a trader joe's granola bar for my p.m. snack and jetted the heck home.

and i'm writing this thinking - who cares what i'm eating? but i care and it's my blog.

also, here's hallie. yesterday was observation day at dance. i didn't make it in time for the hiphop, but i got to see her do some gym work before i had to jet to class in the ugliest building in the world.

TRAVEL FOOD. HOPEFULLY.

if i make it to the airport on thursday, i am planning on packing my own snacks/lunch for the flight. saves money and keeps me healthy, hopefully.

apparently you can bring food through security, just not liquids over 3 floz. so...at this point, i am planning to bring:

a.m. snack (pre-plane ride): apple + pb (the usual)

lunch: turkey tenderloin wrap + lettuce + quinoa + pre-packaged packet of mustard + sweet potatoes + orange. all pre-packed in a tupperware.

p.m. snack (on the plane): quinoa breakfast bars - i am obsessed with these. so delicious, easy and filling. and good for you! (i sub protein powder for the flour, use honey and raisins instead of craisins). so, so good.

supper with dave in west palm beach - woo hoo!

****

in other news, henry looks more like dave every, single day.

it's really ridiculous.

SUPERBOWL SUNDAY + FRESH STARTS

superbowl sunday!

what a crappy game. but we had a nice time with our little family eating appetizers and doing this workout throughout the game:

that was a lot of fun, although i was really the only one that stuck with it. and even then, i wasn't reeeealllyyyyy watching the game, so i was at the mercy of dave to call out when these things happened. oh well, we tried!

here's to a fresh start of the week! february is starting off super crappy (family member super sick, florida trip looking iffy (sob) and lots and lots of snow!) but i'm going to stay positive and say lots of prayers this week!

sunday: prep day! i made up a batch of quinoa breakfast bars, quinoa, sweet potato lentil curry (new recipe, turned out GROSS), healthy tuna salad and just now realized i forgot to make up some tortillas. dang.

monday: lunch is healthy tuna salad on a wrap + lettuce + broccoli slaw + quinoa + mustard +an orange.

lunch workout: TurboFire HITT 25 + Abs10

supper is TBD, since the swpotlencur above didn't workout. i choked it down for supper last night, but that's all i can do. it's really not good.

tuesday: lunch will be the tuna salad again with the same fixing + an orange

lunch workout: workout 2 from fitnessista's winter shape up + barre burner

supper is healthy turkey taco salad + quinoa

wednesday: leftover turkey taco salad + quino +orange

lunch workout: TurboFire Fire30 + Abs10

thursday - monday: florida! hopefully! sunshine! sunshine! sunshine! i am bringing a few workout dvds, but i will probably just walk or run for my exercise while i'm there. i can't wait for warmth and sunshine!!!!!!!!!!

bring it on!!

BASEMENT SETUP.

i am very lucky. i have a great setup in the basement of my work. nobody ever goes down there except for storage purposes, so i have the whole thing to myself.

i used to use my laptop, but it was such a pain, because if we needed it at home i would have to drag it back and forth.

last weekend, dave helped me haul an old tv and dvd player from our basement at home to my basement at work. i use a lovely old media cart to put everything on to keep it all organized! and now i can keep my laptop at home. yippee!

it's pretty awesome. i mean, it doesn't look very awesome, but it serves my purpose! i don't think i would workout nearly as much if i couldn't do it at lunch.

AND NOW, MY WEEK.

i'm going to pretend it's sunday and i'm putting my weekly plan out there.

we'll see what works and what doesn't.

sunday: prep day! i made up a batch of quinoa, chopped celery, made quinoa breakfast bars and got out the chicken and sausage from the freezer. i also made homemade whole-wheat tortillas. first time!

we had new friends over for supper (exciting!) so i cooked up a turkey tenderloin in the crockpot, turkey chili in another crockpot, roasted red new potatoes, broccoli and made some dinner rolls. they are a healthy-eating family too, so they loved it. the mom brought some chocolate chip cookies made with coconut oil (yum!) that were delicious!

no workout! rest day!

monday: lunch was leftover turkey tenderloin, roasted sweet potatoes and onion (from crockpot), lettuce and plain quinoa in a home-made tortilla. so good. and an orange.

lunchworkout: TurboFire HIT 25 + Abs10

supper was leftovers for everyone - i had some turkey chili over quinoa with broccoli slaw mixed in.

tuesday: lunch was quinoa turkey meatballs, quinoa, lettuce and salsa in a home-made wrap. no recipe for the quinoa meatballs because they aren't good, but i made a million of them and am slowly eating them (sad). and some canteloupe.

lunch workout: HITT the Beach from DVD

supper was the same as lunch (minus the wrap) + a quinoa bar. i had class and took everything with me.

the family finished up the leftovers. i really regret that i had so much chili leftover. chili + dave = gross. but it's gone now.

wednesday: lunch was the same as tuesday + an orange. boring, but gotta get through those meatballs!

lunch workout: workout # 1 from the Fitnessista's Winter Shape Up. So hard, but so awesome!

supper was spaghetti squash with sausage for the whole family + roasted broccoli. yum. they all love it. except henry, but he doesn't count. he ate a pancake and applesauce...and crackers.

today: lunch is leftover spaghetti squash with sausage in a wrap + lettuce + orange.

lunch workout: TurboFire HITT 20 + Abs10

supper is a work dinner meeting.

tomorrow: lunch will be ginger sesame chicken + quinoa + broccoli slaw in a wrap + orange

workout: 5:30am class at fitness world with jenna!

supper: tbd

saturday: lunch will be same as friday.

workout: 9am class at fitness world with jenna!

supper: tbd - more time on saturday means i can come up with something yum! thinking quinoa stir "fry"

the end.
